Happy New Year….times are changing

Happy New Year to old and new friends!

It’s going to be a quick ‘blog’ as I am off to Ireland tomorrow to deliver a sofa…a long way for just one delivery, but carriers ‘botched’ the job so badly early in the year, that I want to just ‘get it right’ and make very lovely customers happy! (and no…it was not one of our usual carriers…Ireland is ‘difficult’) However, as I am showing tomorrow, we welcome business from the Emerald Isle and delivery can be achieved!!…so we look forward to being over there again soon!!

There is much change afoot at RWF Co…new carpets, a completely ‘new look’ to our upstairs showrooms and a very positive start to 2014. In February we welcome a new enterprise into our building! ’Love Wine’ will trade from the far end of the showrooms (No 20) offering a unique wine tasting experience and an opportunity to buy some of the finest winesfrom around the world. We think the ‘fit’ is really good…fine furniture…fine wines (and some of us in these parts are partial to a drop or two!!) and we hope that their offer will be an added delight to a visit to our showrooms. Not quite sure when the ‘grand opening’ will be, but we will let you know very soon!

Important date for your diary: Sat March 1st and Sunday March 2nd we are holding another of our ‘once in a blue moon’ sales of ‘pre-owned’ furniture. These are pieces that we have made, that we have bought back from customers, for reasons of moving, down sizing, up sizing etc. There will be a good selection of dining tables and chairs, some dressers and cabinets and various antique pieces…all at very attractive prices!!! The sale will be held in our warehouse at Kidlington, only 3 miles from our Woodstock showrooms between 11.00am & 5.00pm. More details to follow.

Art in the furniture store

This year’s series of exhibitions starts with a ‘Private View’ preview party to which you are warmly invited

Fri Feb 7th, 6.30 – 9.00pm Ian Fraser – Iconic Architecture

Unique photographic interpretations of Oxford Colleges and street scenes, Venice and other iconic European buildings.
Ian’s work is individual and stunning. Are you looking at a drawing, an ink painting, a tinted photograph?? Viewed with the eye of an architect and the skills and patience of a master photographer, Ian presents limited edition prints that will amaze and delight. The final images are like architectural drawings but with the addition of photo realism. Using the same criteria as an artist, Ian creates an image of what lays before him, using light, perspective and painstaking compositing and ‘de-cluttering’ in the photographic process. Ian offers his work as limited edition prints, beautifully and sympathetically framed, or as print only.

At the preview, you will have a chance to meet Ian, find out how he goes about creating his stunning images, listen to some cool live music and enjoy a drink in front of the log fire.

Browse the showrooms and enjoy a last chance to wander our space before ‘Love Wine’ move in!!

This year each ‘art in the furniture store’ exhibition will run for two months. The next exhibition starting Fri April 4th is ‘The Child’s Chair’…an exhibition of childrens’ seating through the ages with a focus on Windsor and country style chairs

That’s it for now…hope to see you soon!
