This mid-century teak cabinet, designed by Danish designer Ib Kofod-Larsen (1921-2003) for G-Plan, dates back to the early 1960s. The cabinet features two doors with a beautifully figured book-match design, complemented by solid square handles and sharp rebated edges. It rests on a stylized open stretcher and short legs.
Inside, the cabinet includes a shelf on each side, with the right shelf recessed to accommodate bottles. Both shelves offer three adjustable height options and are finished in a richly figured teak. The cabinet’s structure is veneered in teak with solid edging and legs, and it has been carefully refinished by hand, preserving its excellent condition while still showing some light, authentic marks that highlight its genuine heritage.
Ib Kofod-Larsen was an influential Danish architect and furniture designer. After earning his architecture degree from the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen, he opened his own design studio there in 1948. Kofod-Larsen became a prominent figure in Danish Modernism and achieved international success in the 1950s and 1960s, with his Scandinavian designs manufactured around the world, including in Japan.
